You are going to love this.  I am a computer expert and my primary computer repair business is removing viruses and spyware.  In fact 70% of my profits come from removing threats.  Normally I charge a 59 diagnostic fee and then anywere from 79-138 to remove viruses depending on how infected the persons computer is.

Well one would think I would always have all my computers secured.  the truth is I did not.  I just bought a new gateway laptop off of tiger direct for 500 bucks.  It was a smoking deal with 4G’s or ram 320 G hdd.  nice processor and a very light system.  I purchased it for my wife.  Well I got the system the other day and uninstalled the free trial of Norton that was on the system because I wanted to put PC TOOLS Internet Security on the thing.  This is the client I recommend to everyone and use myself.  Well I forgot to install the software.  Later that same day my wife comes into my office with her new laptop.  I thought she was going to tell me how much she loved it but she handed it over and said it was inffected with a virus!!  She only had the system for a few hours!!!!!  She was looking for birthday invetation templates and one of the links she clicked on must of had a virus.  It really is that simple to get infected with out propper protection.  After installing PCtools IS and running a scan,  sure enough it was the trojan.vundo.  In addition to this there was a fake antivirus client installed and she was getting browser re-directs.  After running just one full scan the system was clean and she was good to go.

I always shake my head when a client says they had no protection and I have to laugh that it happened to me.  I am sure I would of remembered the next day to put it on the system but man o man in just a few hours she was infectd.
